Si Scott

Si Scott is a illustrator as well as graphic designer who is based in the United Kingdom. He was born in England, Leeds but is moving around quite a bit. He was born in 1977 and was saw the talent he has from an early age that’s when he started developing new ideas until now. Si Went to college of art as he left school at 16. Si Scott shows his work and lectures worldwide. In my opinion he is an amazing artist. He inspired me to make my 'E' letter for my mural project based on the way he works in his work. His Artwork is so detailed and composed so great. He has a strong passion for animals that’s why he made a quite a lot of images illustrating an animal and it works so well. But after animals he moved also on to working with Typography (with letters). His art is so creative and twirly it catches everyone’s eyes. Si Scott uses a technique which is drawing by hand entirely and he does not use much computer programs to do his designs.

Stinkfish

Stinkfish work is really nice and also unique. I think that because he uses other people’s faces which he takes the picture off and makes them into a detailed mural painting.I think his work is amazing, He uses spray paint and a stencil so he uses different techniques to do his work and it turns out really great. The image on the left is my favourite. I seen it in East London myself and this is the image I took myself as well.I like it because of the skill he had to put in to make it so colourful and detailed. It is on a very large scale which does make me think it took so long to make it. For this image and for most of his other images he uses spray paint and stencil for the details.

Some Background information: The artist is originally from Columbia. He started working as a teenager and got quite popular. His first works of stencils were done in around 2001,2002. he recently done a fantastic doorway in East London. He gets inspiration from other people simply by taking pictures of them and creating stencils using the photos.

Stik

Stik is a street artist who is based on East London. I think his work is really unique because he expresses emotions through his work. He was homeless for a long time so he lik

es to show his hard life through the Spray painted art. I think his work is very exciting and great because he shows movements of the stik people that he designed. In my opinion he is a great artist and I seen few of his works and I think they were all fantastic. He uses Spray paint for the outline of the stik people and fills it in with a normal paint.

Some background information:
Stik have been creating stick people in London for over 10 years now and he has been inspired creating them after he was homeless for a long time. He was born in London And most of his work is In East London.

Michael Craig - Martin

Subject matter: In my eyes the artist is trying to combine different everyday objects in one piece of art. The mood is kind of shocking because of the bright pink background but it is a positive mood as the colours he used are pretty happy, bright. He probably is trying to show ideas through consumerism. This certain painting is about standing out, being eye catchy. I wrote about this artist because his artwork is so unique from everything else. He uses words and things that we see every day and combines them together. Really important part of his work I think is the colours because they are usually so eye catching and extreme. I think he has his own style and it works really well. He did different things such as first he used no colours in his paintings, just the outline and then he did some with words and the moved on to words and everyday objects together, and then added them extreme colours.

Technique: This art work is painted. This is very simplified because the artist didn’t want to make it confusing he wanted it to be really plain and understandable. The work is flat but there is a 3D draw painted to make it look more 3D rather than 2D. The colours are extremely bright. It used complimentary colours for the draw (green and red). The colours create positive atmosphere. There is no shading or tonal range in the work, it’s just same colours. The texture is flat and plain it is not rough or lumpy. The composition of this image has dramatic angles which are really well seen in the picture.

Artist’s career: Michael Craig - Martin was born in 1941 28th August in Ireland. He is contemporary conceptual artist as well as a painter. After his birth Michael and his parents went back to London however in 1945 the family moved to Washington where Michael got very religious education in Roman Catholic school. He got his inspiration for art from one of the priests in school who was an artist.
